Blick Bassy is our first guest.

Born in 1974 in Mintaba in the southwest of Cameroon, Blick Bassy grew up in Yaoundé. A self-taught musician, he was 22 when he founded the group Macase, which combines jazz, soul, and Bantu culture. The group, famous in Cameroon, released a first album in 1996 Etam Then Doulou in 2002.

Blick Bassy decides to embark on a solo career and comes out Lake Geneva in 2009, recorded in Salif Keïta’s studio in Bamako. Follows Hongo Calling in 2011, Ako in 2015, then 1958 in 2019 in tribute to Ruben Um Nyobe, hero of the anti-colonial resistance. He publishes a 1er novel in 2016 « The Moabi Cinema » at Gallimard.

It’s for his new album Madiba entirely dedicated to water, which Blick Bassy plays in the #SessionLive.

The life of James BKS begins in France in 1982, and changes radically when his family moves to the United States. It was in this country that he discovered the hip hop scene. He produces music for Snoop Dogg, Akon, Puff Daddy and Ja Rule. Then moved to Atlanta where the future of electronic music was at stake in the early 2000s. He returned to France and set up his structure Grown Kid, which took care of the artist from A to Z. He met his biological father, Manu Dibango and reconnects with Douala culture. In 2017, James BKS composed the song “ Kwele », taken from a sample of “ Senga Abele » which was recorded by his father in 1990. And it is with a cover which refers to the album Wakafrica by Manu Dibango, that James BKS covers his new album Wolves of Africa part 2/2.
