Server down for midseason update 7.2.5 on October 17th. – All times and information

Today Destiny 2 will release its major mid-season armor and weapon update. The update not only adjusts two exotic pieces of armor that were a bit too difficult to counter in PvP. There will also be some weapon customizations where you may notice differences in controllability.

Update history for Update 7.2.5:

7:58 p.m.: Halloween is still a long time coming. Bungie has not yet been able to identify the error. So the downtime still remains. Probably by 9:00 p.m., as the developer announced via Twitter/X, unless the green light comes before then. On MeinMMO you will be the first to find out when the new week starts.

6:55 p.m.: Unfortunately, the punctual start today fell through in scary water. Bungie has just announced that the downtime will initially be extended by one hour. There will be further updates after this hour. We’ll stay tuned and let you know immediately if there’s anything new.

4:21 p.m.: Destiny 2 has just gone offline. In just a few hours you will be able to explore the changes to the midseason update yourself. And of course the Halloween event starts.

This is what you need to know today: In Destiny 2 there are always changes to weapons, armor, abilities and therefore the meta of the game. So if you’re new to Destiny 2, it’s important to keep an eye on these in-game changes. Some have a big impact on the overall gameplay.

Not only the Halloween event starts today. Destiny 2 is also getting its big midseason update for Season 22. As always, the full list of announced changes is long. But here are the most important highlights:

  • Several Exotic armors are being reworked because they are too dominant.
  • Adaptive and automatic rifles with high penetration will receive a boost, while submachine guns will be more difficult to control.
  • Pulse rifles with high penetration remain this way, while Bungie buffs the aggressive ones slightly without increasing their damage.
  • In addition, two perk advantages are being adjusted and one of them hurts fans of grenades.
  • However, before this becomes active in the game, Bungie must first shut down the servers. In this article, MeinMMO tells you what else will be adjusted, when that will happen today and how long the server downtime for the midseason update 7.2.5 will last.

Maintenance on October 17th – All times for server down

These times are important today: Bungie published the exact information about the update via Twitter/X. We will inform you here about the downtimes in Germany. The planned downtime is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

This is the exact maintenance schedule:

  • Background maintenance will start on all platforms at 3:00 p.m.
  • The servers go offline at around 4:15 p.m. The players are then kicked out of the game.
  • During the downtime, Bungie will release midseason update 7.2.5. It will be rolled out gradually so players on all platforms can download it.
  • Destiny 2 should be online again at 7:00 p.m. and you can try to log in.
  • The maintenance will then continue in the background until 9:00 p.m.
  • Important: As long as the background maintenance is running, connection problems may occur in the game from time to time. In addition, maintenance queues can sometimes form when logging in because Bungie only releases access to the servers gradually in order to avoid problems caused by excessive server load. You may therefore have to wait longer to get back into the game.

Also keep in mind that third-party applications and the official Companion app will also not be accessible properly for a while, so you will not be able to use them.

That changes with midseason update 7.2.5 in Season 22

As always, Bungie explained in great detail in a This Week in Destiny why certain changes were made in this major update.

However, we will summarize this long list here in brief sentences.

  • A variety of exotic armor pieces are customized. These include the “Antaeus Protective Gear” and the Hunter Exo “Ahamkara’s Backbone”. For some players, the PvP nerf is completely fine. Unfortunately, the nerf for “Ahamkara’s Backbone” also applies to PvE and, in the opinion of some players, that simply shouldn’t be the case.
  • There is good news for fans of adaptive and high-penetration automatic rifles. This weapon class today receives reduced range and target damage reduction scalar, as well as slight base damage increases.
  • Reduced the damage bonuses of handguns in the Checkmate modifier. They drop from 10% to 7% compared to the normal Crucible.
  • Submachine guns receive increased recoil.
  • Pulse Rifles gain a reduced damage decay scalar.
  • Fusion rifles have their minimum damage cap slightly reduced.
  • Sniper rifles receive reduced body shot damage and significantly increased critical multipliers.
  • Shotguns will have reduced accuracy penalties in the air after the update.
  • The Perfect Plains perk gains a base duration of 10 and an extended duration of 12 seconds.
  • The Kickstart perk is reduced from 20% to 15% bonus damage.
  • The midseason update puts Destiny 2 on hold for a short time

There are also bugs on Bungie’s to-do list that also need to be addressed and have already been reported by players:

  • Some weapons purchased from Banshee-44 may have a different Masterwork than the one displayed.
  • The Osmosis perk does not activate successfully on all weapons.
  • The Major Arcana Ascension card buff does not apply Scorch to enemies.
  • Suppress or startle effects can sometimes target allies in Savathûn’s Pillar.
  • Unpurchased Exotic Armor Ornaments are sometimes incorrectly shown as available in the Appearance screen, but cannot be equipped.
  • Hive Swords occasionally consume players’ Enlightenment, but cannot be picked up in Crota’s reprint.
  • The Photonic Armor Vest hunter chest protector is currently not available for transmog.
  • The Vex Battleforce Lightfall event to obtain current Exotics has an issue. It may happen that it does not start even though the flag has already announced the event. As a result, players often travel to Neomuna to take part in the public event in vain.
  • Also don’t forget: Player name changes cannot be adjusted infinitely via bungie.net. Several “number guardians” continue to wait for the option to change their player name again instead of receiving the message “You do not have any name changes available”.
  • If you know of any other bugs in the game that aren’t listed here but you’ve noticed, feel free to share them in our comments section.

Patch Notes for Update 7.2.5 in Destiny 2

What’s in the patch notes? Bungie publishes the list of all changes for update 7.2.5 in the form of patch notes. However, a full overview of all fixed issues and improvements will not be posted online until this evening.

What else is important? Maintenance periods are unfortunately an inevitable part of a live service game like Destiny 2, as they form the basis for a smooth and enjoyable gaming experience.

So while they may temporarily restrict access to the game, they are a necessary step to ensure that bugs don’t remain in the game, changes can be made and that you can play as usual without too much disruption.

So keep an eye on this article today to stay updated on the maintenance progress and look forward to the new Weekly Reset that awaits you after the Halloween Event update is complete.
