Security: alert for Paris 2024?

Security alert for Paris 2024

The French Ministers of the Interior Gérald Darmanin and of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra explained themselves this afternoon (June 1, 2022) before a Senate committee, four days after the fiasco of the organization of the Champions League final football at the Stade de France. Tear gas, violence… the confusion was total on Saturday evening (May 28, 2022) after many supporters tried to enter the sports arena without a ticket.

This gives a poor image of the organization of sporting events in France, while the Rugby World Cup is looming in France next year (2023) and especially the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

What lessons should be learned to avoid a recurrence of the same problems? Are there “French specificities” in these flaws? What parallels, what differences with the events to come?

To discuss it :

– David Le BarsSecretary General of the Union of National Police Commissioners

– Ronan Evaindirector of the Football Supporters Europe Association

– Eric Monin, French sports historian and sociologist, Vice-President of the University of Franche-Comté, Director of the Center for University Olympic Studies and Research (CEROU). Author of the book ” From Chamonix to Beijing, a century of Olympism in winter », Editions Désiris.
