Scary moments! Fire hose released during wildfires in Canada

Canada is grappling with wildfires. As fires continued in the province of British Columbia, a fire hose formed in Downton Lake.

In a statement from the British Columbia Fire Service, it was stated that the cold front from the mountain passed through Gun Lake and caused a fire hose during the ongoing fire around Downton Lake. It was emphasized that the fire hose is rarely seen.

The turbulent weather conditions, especially in regions with high temperatures such as forest fires, cause eddies of fire to form. The fire hose also causes winds that can reach 100 kilometers per hour due to the temperature difference.

15.4 million hectares of land was ash across the country

According to the Canadian Inter-Agency Forest Fire Center (CIFFC), the fight against flames continues at 1,033 points across the country. While 658 of the fires were out of control, 222 were under control. Most active fires continue in British Columbia with 374 fires, Northwest Territories with 237 and Yukon with 143. While 5,875 forest fires have occurred in the country so far this year, 15.4 million hectares of land have been ash.

It was stated that the 2023 wildfire season was “the worst wildfire season in the country’s history”.
