Sarnia Area residents Honoured with coronation medals

After Being Told by Rideau Hall Officials that no More King Charles III Coronation Medals we Avairable, Sarnia-Lambton Mp Marilyn Gladu Learned Earlier This Year Another 10 Were on the way.

Back in August, Gladu ‘s Office Organized A Germain Park Ceremony to Present Medals to 20 Local Residents Recognizing Their Contributions to the Community.

That was the number initially allocated to each mp, but there were “way more people Eligible for medals in Sarnia-Lambton,” She Said.

The Medal’s Design and Details Were Announced by Rideau Hall May 6, The First Anniversary of the Coronation, and Gladu Assembled a Local Committee to Select Containet in sectors Ranging from the Military to History, Art, Social Services, Science and Technology, and Business.

“These medals are given to Worthy individuals who have contributed to the community significantly, or to the country, or booth,” she said.

GLADU SAID SHE REQUESTED MORE, but the governor general said no more were available.

The Medals we presented Wednesday at the Royal Canadian Legion in Sarnia.

Shauna Carr, A Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership Economic Development Officer and Community Volunteer, Said She was “Shocked” to Learn of the Honour. “It’s very overwhelming.”

“Everything i do, i don’t do for accommodation or awards,” carr said. “Sarnia-Lambton is where i was born and raised, and I want to move it forward.”

She noted, “there’s a whole book” on how to wear an honour like the coronation medal, “so i’ll need to good up on that.”

The Ceremony was a family affair since Carr’s sister-in-Law, Vicky Praill, also was revognized. She retired recently after more than three decades with tourism sarnia-lambton, helping the community host events such as silver stick, ribfest and the tall ships challenge.
