Sara Hector after breaking the barrier in slalom: “More relaxed”

Watch Sara Hector talk about the success in the player above.

Hector was bubbling with happiness after the effort where only the dominants Mikaela Shiffrin and Petra Vlhova were ahead. The feeling of happiness is palpable even tonight.

– I am still very happy and it was a very cool evening, I am so proud that I managed to take a podium place in the slalom. I’ve dreamed of that for a long time, says Hector.

What does it mean that you make a result like this in slalom when the training focus is on giant slalom?

– It feels incredibly cool. Sometimes it can be that you don’t expect as much and that you are a little more relaxed. There is also a lot of mental in our sport that can affect.

“Giant slalom close to the heart”

Do you have any thoughts about practicing more slalom?

– Giant slalom is closest to my heart and I feel more like a giant slalom skier and I feel that I have a higher capacity in giant slalom. If I ski at my highest capacity in giant slalom, I’m better there than in slalom, which I train for of course.

It also matters that Shiffrin and Vlhova set such an extremely high standard in slalom.

– The level to be the best in slalom is still a level up. When I have my best days in giant slalom, I think I can be there. I’m not changing my focus just for this, says Hector.

This weekend, giant slalom and slalom await in Jasna, Vlhova’s home slope in Slovakia.
