Russian news agency: Lithuania attacked Belarus

Belarusian security services accuse Lithuania of trying to attack Minsk with drones, Russian state media claim, Reuters reports.

Belarus reportedly managed to repel the Lithuanian drone attack, according to media reports in Russia and Belarus.

According to a statement from KGB chief Ivan Tertev, a number of “urgent security measures” have been taken to prevent drone attacks on the capital Minsk and its surroundings.

– The National Security Council, in cooperation with colleagues from other legal authorities, recently took a series of urgent security measures, which made it possible to prevent attacks by combat drones from the territory of Lithuania on targets in Minsk and its suburbs, says Ivan Tertel, head of the Belarusian security service in a statement, according to the Belarusian news agency RIA.

Belarus presents no evidence that an attack took place.

So far, no comment has come from NATO country Lithuania.

Since a rigged election and nationwide protests, Belarus has become ever closer to its long-standing ally Russia, not least in connection with the large-scale invasion of neighboring Ukraine, where Russian forces have been allowed to pass through Belarus.
