An opposition politician who died in a penal colony in Russia To Alexei Navalny lawyer Vasili Dubkov was arrested in Moscow on Tuesday evening, reports an independent Russian-language media operating from Latvia Novaya Gazeta Europe and Russian media operating on the messaging service Telegram WAR.
Independent Russian media Vjorstka later said, that Dubkov was released shortly after his arrest. Dubkov himself announced his release to Vjorstka.
Dubkov refused to comment on the reason for the arrest. However, he stated that he considered the arrest to be “obstructing the lawyer’s legal activities”.
According to both Novaya Gazeta and SOTA, Dubkov was arrested for disorderly conduct. of WAR according to sources Dubkov was taken to the Shcherbinka city police department. The city is located approximately 37 kilometers south of Moscow.
Dubkov also helped the mother of the deceased Navalny Lyudmila Navalnaya to have his son’s body for himself.
Employees of Navalny’s anti-corruption organization and his supporters have been arrested in Russia before.
