Russian military aircraft have come dangerously close to a Polish plane patrolling for the EU’s border agency over the Black Sea.

The Polish crew is said to have temporarily lost control of their plane.

The Russian Sukhoi Su-35 plane did not make radio contact before performing “aggressive and dangerous maneuvers, approaching the border guard plane three times without keeping the required safety distance,” the Polish border guard said.

According to Poland, the Russian plane was right in front of the Polish one, at a distance of “around five meters”.

The crew of the Polish plane temporarily lost control of the aircraft and lost altitude,” the statement said.

The Polish plane was then able to land in Romania. According to Romania, the border guard plane was patrolling the area on behalf of the EU border agency Frontex.

According to Romania’s Ministry of Defense, the incident occurred approximately six miles east of Romania’s airspace.
