Russia equips Belgorod submarine with doomsday torpedoes

According to information, Poseidon torpedoes can transport radioactive material that can be used to make a dirty bomb.

Russia is installing Poseidon super torpedoes on the Belgorod submarine. This is reported by a Russian news agency Tass (you switch to another service) citing an unnamed government source.

Poseidons, called “doomsday torpedoes”, are nuclear-powered torpedoes that can carry cobalt 60 in addition to explosives.

Cobalt 60 is an artificial radioactive isotope that can be used to make an extremely dirty bomb.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin announced the development of the weapon in 2018.
