Rugbyers URC down a lot against CAS I saw good

UTRECHT/AMERSFOORT – The rugby players of URC have received a major beating from CAS in the first division. The Utrecht team lost 8-38 at home. In the same competition RC Eemland managed to win big. At Groningen, the Amersfoorters were too strong with 12-77.

Eemland currently occupies fourth place in the honorary division. URC is the number thirteen of the competition. Eemland still has two matches to go in the regular competition, URC still three.

URC needs to become more consistent

At halftime, URC faced a 5-14 deficit. In the second half, CAS made it 8-38. “The final score suggests that it is quite a beating. But we have shown good rugby,” said coach Luc Visser afterwards. “That fell away at a certain point. We have achieved the goals we had set ourselves. It is important for us to play well for 80 minutes.”

We see this as a build-up year

Now that the regular competition is almost over, the rugby clubs can prepare for the championship pool and the relegation pool. URC has almost certainly been sentenced to the relegation pool. “Our goal this year was not to be relegated. We see this as a build-up year. We cannot compete with the top eight at the moment.”

The relegation rules are not completely clear yet. As it looks now, only the last one from the relegation pool will be relegated. The final relegation rules will be announced at the end of February. Visser has confidence in enforcement. “You will see us again next year in the league of honor.”
