Military aid to Taiwan for more than 300 million euros

According to Reuters’ anonymous sources, the exercise organized in April was disguised as a random encounter at sea.

According to information from the news agency Reuters, the navies of the United States and Taiwan have secretly organized a joint exercise in April. Reuters’ information is based on four anonymous sources familiar with the matter.

According to the sources, the exercise was organized in the western Pacific Ocean and an attempt was made to disguise it as a random meeting of ships at sea.

According to one source, a total of about ten ships participated in the exercise. For several days, the ships practiced, among other things, various basic functions, such as communication and maintenance procedures, the source said.

According to another source, practicing basic operations is very important for cooperation between the armed forces to work in an emergency.

The US Department of Defense did not comment on the matter to Reuters.

– The Navy often makes contact with ships of other countries and conducts engagement exercises when necessary, the Taiwanese Navy commented to the news agency.

China considers the democratically governed island as its own rebel province, which it is ready to return to itself with military force if necessary.

Military cooperation between the US and Taiwan has increased recently, as China has continuously violated Taiwan’s airspace and held military exercises near the island.

Cooperation between Taiwan and the United States is often carried out through unofficial channels, as the two countries do not have official diplomatic relations.
