Gasunie wanted to add a concentration of the odorant to natural gas there, at the mixing station south of the A12. “We do this to give natural gas, which is naturally odorless, a gas smell,” says a spokesperson for the gas transport company. “That way people can still smell it in the event of a gas leak at home and then sound the alarm.”
