“We had 9-1-1 calls that said there was smoke showing from the basement of the residence,” said Deputy Chief Scott Pipe. “The good news is all of the occupants of the residence were waiting outside.”

Four ambulances were at the scene as a precaution because the initial 9-1-1 caller was unsure if the home’s occupants had all escaped safely.

Tragically, Pipe said, two dogs and a cat perished in the fire.

“The firefighters tried to resuscitate the animals but were unsuccessful.”

The fire is still under investigation to determine the cause and amount of damage but is not being treated as suspicious.

Pipe said the residents will be displaced from the home for an extended period of time.
