Residents at area retirement home lose $50K in frauds: OPP

Several people at a retirement home in Norwich have lost more than $50,000 in frauds, Ontario Provincial Police say.

Police were notified Aug. 21 of an alleged fraud at the home in the community about 20 kilometers southeast of Woodstock, police said Tuesday.

The initial investigation determined multiple people were defrauded and a suspect has been identified, police said. The Oxford OPP major crime unit is helping in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked call Oxford OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police also are appealing for people to call them if they suspect someone they know may have been defrauded to call them.
