Registration opens for Aug 29 Sept 9 crop tour

Great Lakes Grain will be scouting corn and soybean field in late August and early September to get a sense of the health of these crops in Ontario.

The Chatham-based organization, which is a marketing partnership between AGRIS Co-operative, Growmark Inc. and Coop Embrum, is holding its 13th annual crop tour Aug. 29 to Sept. 9.

The team will conduct yield assessments and gauge crop progress for farmers who sign up for the tour.

A news release said the team will work with producers to understand if they have further opportunities to market their grain. Interested producers can register at www.greatlakesgrain.com/2022-Crop-assessment-request-form.

Understanding yield and crop health, the release said, assists the agriculture industry in making agronomic, economic and handling decisions for the 2022-2023 crop.

Industry end-users are also encouraged to accompany the tour.

The yields for each county will be released at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show in Woodstock on Sept. 13.

“We are truly looking forward to visiting with our producers and their families to share the results of the tour,” Don Kabbes, general manager of Great Lakes Grains, said in the release.

The tour is sponsored by Bayer Crop Science and DEKLAB.
