On Tik Tok, a mother warns of an increasing trend in college courses. A game called “fire truck” would be all the rage, to the detriment of young girls caught off guard.

This American mother’s alert was viewed nearly 2.5 million times in just a few days on TikTok. And for good reason, the subject is concerning: according to information shared by his own 11-year-old daughter, a game would be all the rage in middle school classes (American for the moment, but we know the speed of propagation of bad ideas), that of “fire truck”. However, this truck would trample in a few seconds the notion of consent of the victims.

Seemingly innocent, the game ends with a touching

Why is this a dangerous game? The mother explains the problem in a one-minute testimony: “A boy puts his hand on a girl’s lower thigh and says to her, “My hand is a fire truck, I’m going to slowly bring it up. But when you feel uncomfortable, you say red light “. And you know what these little c… do?

“They say, ‘Sorry, fire trucks don’t stop at red lights.’ And they move their hand up until they touch the girl’s crotch.”

The young girl who thought she was accepting a challenge that was certainly stupid, but who stopped according to her feelings, found herself caught off guard in what was none other than touching between minors.

Do better to teach our children about consent

The practice, which is not so new (cases have been known since the 2000s), raises questions for this mother. If according to her, those who try their hand at the fire truck game are still only children, with their share of stupidities which is nothing new, it is high time to move up a gear when it comes to of consent.

“We need to do better to teach our boys not to touch girls and our girls that it’s okay to have boundaries,” she explained.

Advice which is obviously also valid for us and which is largely based… on the parents’ discourse and learning. Remember that in middle school in France, at least three annual sexuality education sessions are on the program for middle school students. And that respect for others and responsible behavior are supposed to be addressed from the 6th grade. In reality, the terms are sometimes more vague, and teaching remains conditional on the will and commitment of the teachers.
