RATP TRAFFIC. Thursday, June 29, buses and trams in Île-de-France have been stopped since 9 p.m., due to the riots after the death of Nahel in Nanterre. The metro and RER lines must run normally.
[Mis à jour le 29 juin 2023 à 20h32] Valérie Pécresse, president of the region and of Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) announced that buses and trams will not run in the region, Thursday evening June 29. Several violence took place the day before, after the death of Nahel, a 17-year-old teenager killed by a policeman in Nanterre, Tuesday, June 27. “At the request of the Prefecture of Police, traffic on the bus and tram network operated by the RATP will gradually stop, until the total end of service at 9 p.m.”, specifies the RATP.
This decision was taken in consultation with Ile-de-France transport operators, who wish to ensure the protection of agents and passengers. “Our transports are not targets for thugs and thugs,” announced Valérie Pécresse on Twitter. The RATP and Île-de-France are not the only territories concerned: the bus and tram network has been stopped in Lille since 8 p.m., in Brest since 6 p.m. and in Tours from 10 p.m.

Following the riots which occurred overnight from Wednesday to Thursday in Île-de-France, the RATP announces a total interruption of traffic on the Ile-de-France tram and bus lines this Thursday, June 29, 2023. “At the request of the Prefecture police and as a precaution, the RATP bus and tram networks will gradually stop until the end of total service at 9 p.m. Traffic will also be completely interrupted on the Noctilien network” announces the RATP official website.
“We invite all travelers to take their disposal to anticipate their trips now”. On the other hand, “the Metro and RER networks should circulate normally”. However, traffic is disrupted on the entire RER A line because of the demonstrations. The RER A Nanterre-Préfecture stop has not been served since the afternoon.
