All these employees will earn more money thanks to teleworking

Good news for finances and work organization is coming for many employees.

The practice has become common in professions that allow it. For four years now, the standard in the weekly organization of work has changed. No more daily coming to the office. Now time for a more flexible mode, which combines presence in the company’s premises and days from home. Teleworking has changed habits.

Above all, this raised new questions, particularly financial ones. Should the company contribute to paying the electricity bill during teleworking days? What about meal vouchers? If the legislation has evolved accordingly (mainly to give companies free rein to decide according to internal agreements), some employees will have good news on their next pay slips.

Several organizations have decided to contribute to the costs borne by people working from home. Among which, the State. Civil servants working from home receive compensation each year to compensate for the costs incurred by teleworking. A daily amount is set and paid based on the number of days of remote work. Around one million civil servants benefit from it, or 19% of the 4.8 million civil servants (public, territorial or hospital combined and excluding teachers) working from home.

Fixed in 2021 and increased by 15% on 1er January 2023, the teleworking package was again increased by 10%. Thus, if a civil servant takes all the annual teleworking days to which he is entitled, he will receive, in 2024, 282.24 euros in compensation, or 28.80 euros more than until then. A new possibility because the State exceptionally authorizes its agents to take 10 additional days of teleworking over the year, compared to the usual rules.

Thus, 98 days of remote working will be authorized, compared to 88 in normal times. Enough to benefit from a fourth day of teleworking per week for almost three months, while civil servants were until now limited to three days of “TT”.

The measure should only be temporary. In fact, its only objective is to save as much as possible on commuting for agents working in Île-de-France, during the Olympic Games. However, there is no prescribed period for taking it. Some could therefore use them to review their organization at the start of the school year. And, why not, save some money.
