She climbs the steps for the first time at the Cannes Film Festival: the Senegalese Ramata-Toulaye Sy is in competition for her first feature film Banel and Adama. Played by two non-professional actors, Khady Mané and Mamadou Diallo, it is the love story between two young people in a Fulani village. Everything collapses when the husband, Adama, refuses to succeed his father as chief, because he dreams of a life away from the village with Banel.
