Having become close to Emmanuel Macron, Rachida Dati could retain her position as Minister of Culture in the Bayrou government.
While François Bayrou is expected to appoint his government in the coming days, certain political figures are already being considered to be part of it.
Like Bruno Retailleau and Jean-Noël Barrot who could certainly retain their respective positions of Minister of the Interior and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rachida Dati could remain Minister of Culture. Having become close to the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, she therefore has a good chance of remaining in government. “Emmanuel and Brigitte (Macron) adore Rachida and are counting on her to be the unique candidate of the right and the center in Paris,” confided a Renaissance executive to Parisian.
“Everyone would welcome its continuation”
Maintaining Rachida Dati in her post would validate two objectives for Emmanuel Macron: remaining close to the Republicans and maintaining a balance in the government team. It is “a major asset for Emmanuel Macron, a fan of political recomposition, today, as for Jacques Chirac yesterday”, according to a close friend of the president. It must nevertheless be remembered that Rachida Dati had been excluded from the Republicans by participating in a government under the presidency of Emmanuel Macron.
Appointed by Gabriel Attal, she had already been reappointed to the same position by Michel Barnier upon his appointment. Although she is regularly criticized for her problems with the law, her popularity within the political class has not declined. “Whether it’s Bayrou, Lecornu or Cazeneuve at Matignon, everyone would welcome his continuation”, according to The Parisian.
Response expected in the coming days, December 25 at the latest if François Bayrou keeps his promises.
