Snapdragon X80 5G modem makes a splash
The company excites the new modem with a number of firsts in the industry. This seventh-generation modem is making waves as the first 5G modem to bring satellite communications into the mix using non-terrestrial networks (NTNs). It is also claimed to be the first device to achieve six-carrier aggregation in a six-antenna setup.
Snapdragon X80 5G breaks new ground as the first device to incorporate a dedicated 5G AI processor. Equipped with a dedicated tensor accelerator for AI tricks, Qualcomm claims it will increase data speeds, reduce latency, improve coverage and location accuracy while keeping power usage low.
