Qatar World Cup qualifiers drawn – Denmark challenges reigning champion, Spain and Germany to the same group

What would be your dream block for the World Cup

One block of interest is the initial block G, where Brazil meets Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon.

2022 World Cup blocks

Block A: Qatar, Ecuador, The Netherlands, Senegal

Block B: England, Iran, United States, Scotland / Wales / Ukraine

Block C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland

Block D: France, UAE / Peru / Australia, Denmark, Tunisia

Block E: Spain, Costa Rica / New Zealand, Germany, Japan

Block F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia

Block G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon

Block H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea

France, the reigning world champion in men’s football, was drawn to the same D-Group at the Qatar World Cup as Denmark and Tunisia.

The fourth team in the block is Peru, Australia or the United Arab Emirates. The winner of the qualifier between Australia and the United Arab Emirates will face Peru in the June qualifier final.

The opening rounds of the World Cup in November-December were drawn on Friday in Doha.

Block A is played by host countries Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal and the Netherlands. In Group B are England, Iran, the United States and the winner of the final qualifying final in Europe. In it, Wales will face the winner of a match between Scotland and Ukraine. Ukraine and Scotland have not been able to play their match due to the war in Ukraine.

Block C includes Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland. Spain, Costa Rica or New Zealand, Germany and Japan play in the e-block. Costa Rica and New Zealand will face in June to see which of the two will advance to the final.

Belgium, Canada, Morocco and Croatia play in the F-block. Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon ended up in the G-block. The opening blocks are complemented by the H-block, with Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea playing.

Belgium and Croatia in the same block

One of the most anticipated encounters in the early block stage is the struggle of the traditional football giants Spain and Germany. Four-time world champion Germany is the 2014 World Cup and Spain the 2010 World Cup winner. Japan is also a strong football country, so the E-block is tough in advance.

The G-block is also interesting, as it is where football giant Brazil faces Serbia and Switzerland, among others, who played strong qualifiers. In its qualifying round, Serbia left behind the reigning European champion, Portugal and Switzerland, among others, who eventually qualified for the Qatar World Cup.

The silver medal of the previous World Championships in Croatia and the bronze medalist in Belgium won the F-block.

The Qatar World Cup is scheduled to start on November 21st. The tournament has been the subject of much criticism over the human rights situation in Qatar, the poor conditions of migrant workers building the Games and the alleged corruption in the selection of the Games.

The encounter between the United States and Iran due to the frictional political relations between the two countries brings its own tension to Block B.
