Pieterse had to give in just over half a minute to winner Fem van Empel. In the first rounds, Pieterse kept trying to escape. Van Empel always had to close the gap with the Amersfoortse. Halfway through the race, Van Empel took the initiative and drove away from Pieterse. In the end, the Amersfoort woman crossed the line 34 seconds after her compatriot.
