Protest in Örebro against cuts at the folk high school

Demonstrations were held around the country on Tuesday against the schools getting less money. One of the organizers of the demonstration in Örebro is Dag Olausson. He estimates that more than 100 people came to Stortorget in Örebro to participate, including staff from Örebro folk high school.

– Several former students gave speeches where they described what the Folkhögskolan meant for their personal development. Afterwards, many people came forward to say that it was a good meeting and that they were touched.

The background to the demonstration is that the Norwegian Education Council received half a billion kroner during the pandemic, which, among other things, enabled the folk high school to admit more students. The grant has not been extended and now the folk high school is forced to say no to students, something SVT Örebro told about earlier.
