A power outage in Norrland’s inland means that over 4,500 customers over a large area in the municipalities of Dorotea and Strömsund are without electricity. The outages took place at 10pm on Monday evening.

There is no forecast for when the electricity may be back according to Eon, which is responsible for the electricity grid.

According to Sara Andersson at Eon’s press service, the cause of the outage is a fire in a substation in Hoting. Technicians are on site.

– It is an area that has had power cuts before and we are keen to find a solution, says Sara Andersson.

But, according to her, it is a large transformer station in which the fire occurred and it can be difficult to get spare parts quickly, if needed.
