For the pilot project in Merwede, 4,225 homes will be connected to the power grid. The maximum power that can be used for the entire project is 5 megawatts. Normally, according to the municipality, there would be a peak demand of 8 megawatts, but for Merwede this is less. “Residents will not notice this and enjoy the comfort as is the case in every home,” promise the municipality and grid operator Stedin. “Construction parties have the space to come up with solutions themselves. As long as they stay within the limit of 5 megawatts.”
