If she is today a fulfilled mother, Kylie Jenner recently returned to her two postpartum depressions, a disorder that affects many young parents.
Kylie Jenner is a reality TV personality followed by millions of fans on Instagram. But she is also the mother of a little girl named Stormi and a little boy named Aire. A motherhood that has deeply turned her upside down, as she confides in an interview with Vanity Fair magazine.
“Accept your emotions” to better live the postpartum
If her children make her happy, Kylie Jenner admits to having experienced postpartum depression twice.
“The first time was very difficult. I cried nonstop all day for the first three weeks“, she declares to the magazine Vanity Fair, before adding that the second postpartum period was “easier to manage“.
To better understand this “earthquake” that follows childbirth, the star recommends accepting her emotions.
“I would tell these women not to think too much and fully experience all the emotions of this moment. Stay in tune with this period, even if it is painful. I know that in those moments you think it will never pass, that your body will never be the same as before, that you will never be the same again. But that’s not true: hormones and emotions at this stage are much more powerful. My advice is to go through this transition without fearing the consequences. The risk is also to miss out on all the most beautiful things of motherhood“, explains the young woman of 25 years.
NO to diets, YES to WW!
If one has already suffered from a first postpartum depression, “the risk of doing it again is higher“, admits Dr. Bagot, gynecologist.
But that doesn’t mean it’s inevitable.
“During the last months of pregnancy, it is necessary to prepare mentally and be followed by a psychologist“, advocates the expert. Then, “if depressive symptoms occur, you must be taken care of immediately“.
It is also recommended to claim its early post-natal maintenance – scheduled from the 8th day after birth – “to his midwife or his gynecologist, while specifying to him if one has already had postpartum depression“.
As a reminder, this early interview is precious “listening time” for the young mother. It is a moment of exchanges and answers to the questions of young parents on everything that may concern them following the arrival of a child.
