Police blotter: $5,000 shoplifting incident, attempted vehicle thefts in Norfolk

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a shoplifting suspect after $5,000 in goods were stolen from the Shoppers Drug Mart in Simcoe.

Norfolk OPP were called to the Norfolk Street North business in Simcoe at about 5:30 pm on Friday, May 10.

An unidentified person went into the business at about 4 pm that day, concealed about $5,000 in merchandise on their person and left without paying.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male about six feet tall with a heavy build, tattoo on the right side of his neck, and walked with a limp,

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a red T-shirt with white Canada lettering, black jeans, black shoes, and a black baseball cap.

The person of interest left the area in a black SUV.

Attempted theft of vehicles

Norfolk OPP are investigating numerous attempts to steal vehicles in Simcoe and Delhi.

Between 5:54 am on Saturday, May 11 and 3:14 pm on Sunday, May 12 police responded to reports of attempted vehicle thefts on Robinson St., Queensway East, Gilbertson Drive, Park Road, and Culver Streets in Simcoe, Wilson Avenue in Delhi and Lynedoch Road.

All of the theft attempts were unsuccessful, but all of the vehicles sustained varying amounts of damage.

Police say one of the suspects at the Park Road incident on Sunday just after 9 am was seen fleeing the area in a white Cadillac Escalade SUV.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, short in height and wearing a black sweater, jeans, dark-colored baseball had and a surgical mask.
