Pokémon fans will be able to continue to hunt and train their favorite creatures while sleeping, thanks to Pokémon Sleep, a new application that acts according to their sleep, respecting natural cycles.

After encouraging players around the world to walk the streets up and down to capture creatures, Pokémon invites itself into dreams! On the occasion of Pokémon Presents – an event with many announcements dedicated to the license, which was held on February 27, 2023 – the Pokémon Company gave news of Pokémon Sleep, a mobile application announced in 2019. If it follows and analyzes the user’s sleep, the latter’s objective is to always capture as many Pokémon as possible. To become the best trainer, you have to train even while sleeping!

Pokémon Sleep: Creatures for Every Type of Sleep

Pokémon Sleep is a sleep tracking and analysis app developed by Select Button, the studio behind the free-to-play Pokémon: Magikarp Jump. The sleeper can be found on Snorlax Island and is accompanied by Neroli, a professor who studies the different sleeping styles of Pokémon. Concretely, the trainer places his smartphone next to him and the application is responsible for analyzing the sounds, the movements but above all the nature of his sleep (light, deep or paradoxical). Depending on the quality and time of it, the sleeper will capture more or less Pokémon. The more and better he sleeps, the more points he will get when he wakes up, and the more Pokémon there will be around his Snorlax. This should appeal to lovers of sleeping in!

The user’s sleep is classified into three categories, each corresponding to a “type of dodo”: the ptidodo, the bondodo or the grododo. When he wakes up, he will discover that Pokémon with a similar type of sleep as his have come to sleep around Snorlax. It is also possible to discover rare styles of dodo, such as “simple dodo”, “dodo with one eye”, “dodo in a ball” or “dodo dodo”. Each Pokémon has several sleeping styles. It remains to be hoped that some do not have fun cutting short their night to capture a particular creature.

A Pokémon Go Plus+, compatible with Pokémon Sleep and Pokémon Go, was also presented during the conference. This is a small flat Pokéball to put next to you. The budding trainer presses the middle button when going to bed and waking up to record his sleep data on his smartphone. The gadget contains a Pikachu that sings lullabies at night and can even be used as an alarm clock. It also allows you to integrate your sleep data with Pokémon Go – but it is not essential. Pokémon Sleep and Pokémon Go Plus + will be released in France on July 21, 2023.
