Players are pursued by child clones who even populate your spaceship

Some players of Bethesda’s role-playing game Starfield are angry because a child clone is destroying their immersion.

What’s with the child clones? In games we meet many different NPCs, not all of which are important to the plot. The same character models are often used, especially for insignificant NPCs, which are repeated to a certain extent in the game. This is the case in GTA 5, in Cyberpunk 2077 and also in Starfield.

In Bethesda’s latest role-playing game, however, this bothers some players on Reddit, because like many other NPCs, the children’s models are repeated in Starfield. One of the children whose face players discover at every corner of the populated systems is Sam’s daughter Cora.

Users describe the same character models as “immersion-destroying”.

Why is Cora’s character model so bad? Sam is one of the players’ most important companions and is introduced as a member of the Constellation during the main story.

Afterwards, Sam can accompany you as a crew member – and yes, he brings Cora with him, who will live on your ship from now on. Cora is therefore almost as important and a permanently present member of your crew as Sam or Vasco are. She is also a central part of Sam’s own story.

It bothers the players that the shape of a main character is also used for irrelevant NPCs. Imagine if in The Witcher 3 you constantly encountered children who looked like Ciri.

The whole thing is made worse by the fact that you can have a second child on your ship at the same time, Sona, who looks very similar to Cora. Reddit user “Lurid-Jester” also notes this and adds that this makes the problem more difficult to ignore (via Reddit).

With Annie Wilcox you can meet another Cora clone in Akila City, one of the most important locations in Starfield, who also brings his own lines of dialogue.

Maybe Bethesda should just add the option to address all children in Starfield as Cora, followed by an apology for confusing her with Sam’s daughter.
