Football: Mjällby continues to impress in the Allsvenskan – takes over second place

Mjällby continues to rack up good results and has proven to be a tough nut to crack in recent seasons.

Halmstad simply did not keep up and the match was basically decided already after 37 minutes.

1-0 already came after just under six minutes when 21-year-old Elliot Stroud slotted in a long-range shot from 25-30 (?) meters.

– I have some mates who said I should splash it there but it has been a while, says Stroud about his first goal

Seven minutes later it was time again, Herman Johansson headed in a cross from Stroud via the post.

The cold shower didn’t end there because ten minutes before the break, Vinícius Nogueira tore down a deep running Johansson for a penalty that Adam Ståhl managed to make it 3-0.

– Sometimes in the first half it looks really, really good and we make sure that Halmstad doesn’t catch up. 3-0 at half-time was completely fair, bid for more maybe, says Mjällby’s goalkeeper Noel Törnqvist.

Despite a reduction from Rasmus Wiedesheim-Paul, there was never really any pulse in the match.

Mjällby climbs to second place in the Allsvenskan.
