Plane crash in Nepal – 72 on board

An airplane with 72 people on board has crashed in Nepal, according to a spokesperson for the airline company Yeti Airlines.

“There are 68 passengers on board and four crew members. . .Emergency personnel are on their way, at the moment we do not know if there are any survivors,” an airline spokesperson told AFP.

An army spokesperson says at least 16 people have been confirmed dead so far.

The plane crashed in the city of Pokhara in central Nepal, between an old and a new airport. The plane has caught fire and rescue workers are trying to put out the fire and rescue passengers, a local official said.
