(Finance) – The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, presided today at Palazzo Chigi the first meeting of the control room on the Mattei Plan. The functions attributed to the body are: the coordination of the Government’s activities towards African Nations, the finalization and constant updating of the Plan, the monitoring of its implementation and the approval of the annual report to Parliament. Palazzo Chigi made this known in a note.
The meeting was attended by, in addition to the ministries involved and the Conference of Regions and Provinces, representatives of the various state agencies and companies and public enterprises, universities, research and the third sector dealing with cooperation and development. There composition of the control room provides for the involvement and participation of further public and private entities, based on the matters and interventions on the agenda.

During the meeting they were remember the six pillars of the Mattei Plan (education/training; health; water and hygiene; agriculture; energy; infrastructure) and the pilot projects launched, in the first phase of implementation of the Plan, in nine African nations: Algeria, Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Morocco, Mozambique and Tunisia. Furthermore, the focus on the first operational missions carried out by the Mission Structure for the Mattei Plan and on the next ones scheduled. Meloni’s visit to Egypt, scheduled for March 17th, also falls within this framework – Palazzo Chigi reports.
