51 billion to savers

In total, it is about six million Swedes where a full 51 billion kroner must be distributed between the pension accounts, the Pensions Agency writes in a press release.

The Pension Authority press secretary Johan Andersson explains in an interview with News24 how the structure of the payouts looks like and what happens if you do not make a choice.

– It is about the premium pension, which is the part of the general pension where you can choose funds for management. The money ends up in the pension savers’ accounts, where it is distributed based on how you chose. If you haven’t made a choice at some point, it automatically goes to AP7 Såfa, which is the default state choice, he says and adds:

– AP7 Såfa is valid until the age of 55, which is a selectable share fund, and after the saver turns 55 and does not make a choice, the AP7 shares are mixed with AP7 interest funds.

That’s how much each person gets in the allowance – on average

According to the authority’s calculation, this is a pension provision of SEK 8,574 per person on average for the income year 2022.

Andersson also explains that everyone who is covered by the premium pension system is also covered by the payments, regardless of how much or little they have earned.

– It may be that you have worked so that you only have one kroner that you receive, but everyone who has a public pension and is covered by the premium pension system is included in this, says Johan Andersson to Nyheter24.
