Pedestrian killed after being struck by vehicle in Norfolk

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Norfolk County on Friday night.

The collision occurred on Indian Line north of Cemetery Road Townsend at about 10:34 pm on Dec. 22.

The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where they were pronounced dead. The person’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, said police.

“The driver involved in this incident remained on scene and did not suffer any injuries,” West Region OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said in a media release.

Officers with the Norfolk detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Six Nations Police Service and emergency service workers responded to the scene.

Investigating is continuing. Anyone with dash camera or video surveillance footage from between 10 and 1:30 pm on Dec. 22 that captured the collision is asked to contact OPP investigators at 1-888-310-1122.
