Part 4 of one of the most successful horror series of our time, which has grossed over 700 million

Horror can be a total box office draw. At least that’s what the Insidious series proves, the five parts of which have all become hits since 2010. Tonight the fourth part, Insidious – The Last Key, is on TV. And takes the series back to its scary roots.

On TV: A horror hit that grossed 17 times (!) its budget

The Last Key revolves around the medium Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye), who franchise fans already know from the predecessors. A paranormal phenomenon leads her to her own childhood home, where she sees a demonic creature confronted with a long-repressed trauma.

According to The Numbers, the Insidious series now has grossed over $700 million at the global box office. The Last Key is no exception in the success story: the fourth part was able to generate a total of 172 million in revenue on a production budget of 10 million.
