Part 1 of one of the greatest sci-fi series of all time, which has completely crashed in recent years

One of the most successful and best blockbusters of all time is on television this Thursday: Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park mixes elements of science fiction, monster and disaster films and broke several records in 1993. 30 years later, the dinosaur franchise is at its lowest point.

Jurassic Park isn’t preparing a sequel, but that didn’t stop anyone

A group of scientists (Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern) are to inspect a theme park with dinosaurs. Things spiral out of control when a dissatisfied developer shuts down security.

Based on Michael Crichton’s novel Jurassic Park tells a self-contained story. The adventure became the highest grossing film of all time at the box office, only topped by James Cameron’s Titanic. So a sequel was needed. Michael Crichton reluctantly wrote a follow-up novel and Steven Spielberg returned to the director’s chair. Lost World – Jurassic Park was released in 1997.

The Jurassic sequels just kept getting worse

The (hugely fun) sequel received mixed reviews, sending out a red flag as to the quality of the series. Because within the plot there was no reason for Jurassic Park sequels, unlike, for example, the epic story of Star Wars or the solo adventures of Indiana Jones. Each part had to piece together a more outlandish story that warranted a trip down a dinosaur-infested deathtrap.

The Jurassic Park films at a glance:

The first Jurassic Park trilogy was poorly received from part to part, and the reboot with Jurassic World saw a similar development (via Rotten Tomatoes). At the end of the row so far is the worst Jurassic movie ever.

Is Jurassic World 4 Coming?

Jurassic World 3: A New Age starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard was a huge success nonetheless. The sci-fi blockbuster grossed over a billion dollars worldwide. Jurassic World 4 has not yet been announcedbut several people close to the production have hinted that the series will continue in some form (such as Bryce Dallas Howard on People ).
