The Palestinian factions met in Egypt on Sunday: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah, and the leader of rival Hamas, in power in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh were notably present. The two main parties have been at odds since the 2006 elections in Gaza, won by Hamas which led to violent clashes in 2007.
