Four police informants had frequent, intensive contact with the suspect. They gave him protection jobs and tried to find out if he was man enough for that. According to the Public Prosecution Service, Dave L. told them many things that only the perpetrator could have known, such as that Duif had been shot at close range and that it was about money that Duif had to share with him. L. also had a revolver at the time, witnesses say.
