Overwatch 2 Launches Winter Event – This time there’s even real rewards

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The next event in Overwatch 2 has started. This time you can even earn a really cool skin. We reveal what’s in the event.

The next seasonal event is taking place in Overwatch 2. After the Halloween event, it’s now time for the “Winter Wonderland”, which is essentially Overwatch 2’s Christmas event. There are a number of new game modes here, but also some earnable rewards, such as the Brigitte Frost Queen skin. We reveal what’s in the event.

These new game modes are in the arcade: Also included this year are some special game modes in the arcade that have a Christmas or winter theme. The four modes are:

  • Mei’s Snowball Fight (Deathmatch): All 8 play Mei but use snowballs instead of their usual weapon. Each player only has 3 shots, but can reload at piles of snow. There are no allies, everyone plays against everyone here.
  • Mei’s Snowball Fight (Team Deathmatch): In this 5v5 mode, everyone uses Mei again, but each only has one shot as a snowball. Reloading takes time, so be careful.
  • Mei’s yeti hunt: In this mode for 6 people, 5 of them play Mei and one the big bad Yeti (Winston). The Meis attempt to hunt down and capture the Yeti before it has gathered enough meat to go berserk and defeat the Meis fairly quickly.
  • Freeze Dew Elimination: In this 4vs4 mode, defeated players are frozen but can be unfrozen by allies. The first team to freeze all opponents at once wins the round. Heroes that contributed to a round’s victory cannot be used in the next round.
  • What rewards are there? Probably the most interesting reward is the “Frost Queen” skin for the healer Brigitte. The other rewards are mainly spray logos, namely the last 4 new heroes (Ramattra, Kiriko, Junkerqueen and Sojourn). There is also a snowman’s head as a weapon talisman.

You can get the “Frost Queen” skin for Brigittte pretty quickly.

Aside from that, completing the challenges also grants Battle Pass XP (1,500 each). So it can be worth completing the challenges for this reason alone.

How do you get the rewards? To earn the rewards, you must complete various challenges. You can see these in the “Challenges” menu and then in the “Event” category. To get the Brigitte skin, you must complete at least 6 of the following challenges (which may each have their own rewards, such as spray logos):

How long is the event active? You have until January 5, 2023 to take part in the various game modes and earn various rewards, such as the Brigitte skin. So you can comfortably work on the challenges over the holidays and between the years.

Aside from all these things, Overwatch 2 also uses the event to promote new skins and cosmetics in the shop that correspond to a Christmas theme. The offer updates every few days, so if you’re looking to spend money and snag new skins, be sure to check back often.

What do you think of the winter event in Overwatch 2? A nice thing or are there too few rewards?
