Overground 2024 from the PNRR funding to support Capacity Building

(Finance) – In Italy, the concept of “Capacity Building”or the strengthening and development of capabilities, is increasingly moving towards one sustainable perspective, also in the cultural sector. Derived from research by Amartya SenNobel Prize winner for economics in 1998, this concept has gained relevance in the PNRR, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, as part of the program Next Generation EU.

There General Directorate of Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture participated in the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) Italia Domani, as part of the Next Generation EU programme, supervising, as implementing structure, the intervention called “Capacity building for cultural operators to manage the digital and green transition”as part of Mission 1 “Digitalisation, innovation, competitiveness, culture and tourism”.

In this setting, the Roma Tre Teatro Palladium Foundation presented two significant projects: “NETWORK – Reuse, Ecology, Technology, Empowerment in the sustainable management of entertainment events” And “Metamorphosis – Designing culture in a changing world”. Both initiatives, in collaboration with Eticae-Stewardship in Action and Margine Operativo, received funding for a total of 240,000 euros.

The theater review Overground 2024now in its second edition and hosted by the Palladium Theatre from February 29th to March 2nd, integrates these projects perfectly. The festival, a low environmental impactaddresses crucial issues such as corporate social responsibilitysustainability, accountability, reporting and socio-environmental impact, ethical certification, sustainability and the circular economy.

Through the creation of a national network of subjects active in the performing arts and music sectormoments of training, workshops and discussion are planned, with the involvement of artistic companies and the sharing of good practices in non-institutional or self-managed spaces.

The cultural and financial recognition of these projects underlines the commitment of the Palladium Theater Foundation and the Roma Tre University towards the environmental sustainability. The university, joining the Network of Universities for Sustainable Development (RUS), has started a path of integration of sustainability in all its areas of expertise, from teaching to research, through the Third Mission up to the management of structures in line with the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

Overground 2024 will open on February 29 with the show “Like a fish on land”starring Marta Cellamare and directed by Riccardo Pisani, freely inspired by the Diaries of Vaslav Nijinsky.

The program of Friday 1 March includes a double performance appointment with shows “You’re the End of the World (Literally)” by Anna Chiara Vispi e “Re|Creations. Study for a tragic future” by Clara Addari and Edoardo D’Antonio. Furthermore, there will be the first day of study with a meeting organized by the students on the dialogue between artists and activists of independent spaces, followed by a session at 6.00 pm on “Archives and memory of occupations: the example of the archive of the Teatro Valle Occupato”.

Saturday 2 Marchat the DAMS of Roma Tre University, the second day of study focused on the topic will be held “Theatre and counterculture spaces in Italy. Research perspectives”. In the evening, at 9.00 pm at the Palladium Theatre, it will be possible to attend the symbolic show of the Italian independent scene “The Shit”.
