Other parts of the human body found yesterday in the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, were discovered on Tuesday, February 13, including a head. The murder investigation continues.
[Mis à jour le 14 février à 12h17] After discovering a bust and a human pelvis in the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, the criminal brigade of the Paris judicial police found the head and the rest of the body of the victim, this Tuesday, February 14. It was shortly after 11 a.m. that investigators found the human remains along the disused railway line near North East Park Parisian. Monday evening and again this Tuesday, the 25 hectares of the park are raked from end to end by specialized teams including dog brigades and divers.
The Buttes Chaumont are immersed in a sordid criminal affair, they are even at the heart of the first investigations of the investigation opened for assassination on February 13, after the discovery of a human trunk. Now that the rest of the body has been found, the crime squad will be able to advance the investigation and work to identify the victim. The investigators are also interested in the identity of the person or persons who abandoned the body cut into pieces in a very remote place in the park of the 19th arrondissement of Paris. To identify suspicious individuals, the police will view all the CCTV images of the city of Paris overlooking the park, a titanic job.
What do we know about the body found in the Parc des Buttes Chaumont?
It is a macabre discovery made in the heart of the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, and which the maintenance workers did not expect. Monday, February 13, around 2:30 p.m., park pruners found, in a very remote grove, a garbage bag which contained a human trunk which went “from above the chest to the knees” according to a source from Parisian. The fatal find more precisely took place in a corner located out of sight, near the warehouse of green waste reserved for gardeners, south of the park, on the rue Botzaris side. The human remains were bloody and, significantly, they were dressed, “as if surrounded by jeans”. A detail which leads the investigators to believe that “the body was cut dressed” according to a source close to the file in the Ile-de-France daily.
A few hours after the discovery, a search was organized in the Parc des Buttes Chaumont with dog brigades to find other parts of the victim’s body. Discoveries which were made on Tuesday February 14, around 11 a.m., near the disused railway line which adjoins the park according to information from the Parisian. The victim’s head and the rest of the body were discovered.
At this stage, apart from the confirmation that it is indeed a woman’s body, the investigators do not have many elements. Even the date of death is still impossible to determine, the judicial police simply know that the death is recent since “the corpse was not in a state of putrefaction”. An autopsy is due to take place in the next few hours to find out more.
Who is the victim ?
The victim found in the Buttes Chaumont park has not yet been identified. The discovery of a human head on Tuesday February 14 could facilitate the identification of the woman. For the time being, we do not know if it is a new victim of femicide, a prostitute or a completely different profile.
Who is the suspect?
As well as the identity of the victim, that of the person responsible for what is currently defined as an assassination is not known. IInvestigators will try to trace back to the person or persons who left the bag by reviewing all the CCTV images of the city of Paris taken in the vicinity of the park. Ihe mystery therefore remains unsolved as to what could have led to such an atrocity and for the time being no lead has been given.
