    Morning brushing is often skipped

    According to the results of a study conducted by Royal Phillips among 2,000 people, many French people skip brushing their teeth in the morning, even though it is an essential step for health and well-being. be.

    This survey reveals that a quarter of French people believe that a minimum of 20 minutes in the morning after waking up is enough to have a good morning routine and thus start the day on the right foot. Although 86% of French people said that “this routine is crucial, because of its positive impact on their overall health and well-being“, some people nevertheless decide to skip brushing their teeth. The reason? The recommended brushing time.

    Are the French in too much of a hurry?

    As a reminder, in order to remove enough dental plaque and thus have healthy teeth and gums, it is essential to brush your teeth for two minutes. “On average, you need to spend four minutes a day brushing your teeth to get effective results – two minutes in the morning and two minutes in the evening – to maintain a healthy mouth and prevent plaque buildup”specifies the authors of the investigation in their press release.

    However, more than half of respondents (63%) say they do not respect these two minutes. According to the results of the study, the reasons for this oral hygiene impasse are multiple:

    • One in 5 adults justifies themselves by saying that they do not have a timer on their toothbrush, which does not allow them to know how long brushing lasts;
    • 21% of French people say that because of tooth and gum sensitivity, brushing their teeth for two minutes is too painful;
    • 15% of the volunteers in this survey said they were not aware that the recommended time to brush their teeth properly was two minutes.

    In the end, this study showed that only 37% of French people respect the brushing time in the morning.
