State aid extension, for CIA “breath of fresh air, review de minimis levels”

EU Coldiretti wrong nature restoration law

(Finance) – A breath of fresh air, the six-month extension, so until the end 2024, of some provisions of the state aid for the agricultural sector: Cia-Italian Farmers therefore welcomes positively the modification, adopted by the EU Commission, to the Temporary Reference Framework for the crisis and transition, expiring on 30 June.

On the shoulders of the agricultural sector, Cia recalls, “there are still significant debts which, from the pandemic to today, have compromised productivity and growth, including interest on investments, raw material costs, inflation and climate emergency. The profitability of the companies that inevitably rely on is at risk significant moratoriums and for whichi, as requested by Cia, one would have been more effective extension of aid until June 2025″.

That said, CIA”also looks with interest at the review by the EU Commission of the regulation on de minimis aid in the agricultural sector, which exempts small amounts from control (up to 20 thousand euros per beneficiary and over three years, 25 thousand euros for Member States with a central register). For Cia, rapid intervention is necessary on the levels so that the de minimis does not definitively constitute an obstacle to the economic recovery of the sector and, above all, with respect to the continuation of major emergencies”.
