OPP investigating violent home invasion in Simcoe

Two residents were taken to hospital after a violent home invasion in Simcoe on Monday night.

Norfolk OPP say three suspects armed with handguns forced their way into the home on Highland Avenue. They assaulted two occupants and then fled the area in an SUV parked outside the address, Const. Ed Sanchuk said in a post on social media.

“Investigators believe that this was not a random, but a targeted incident that remains under investigation,” Sanchuk said.

Officers were dispatched to the home just before 9 pm and searched the area but were unable the suspects. The two occupants were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Sanchuk said.

The suspects are described as Black males about six-feet, four-inches in height.

The Norfolk OPP Crime Unit is leading the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who might have seen something suspicious or who may have captured information on video surveillance to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.helpsolvecrime.com.
