At 12.30 on Sunday, SOS received an alarm about a boat accident outside Halmstad.
– We received information from the sea rescue society that they were at a boat that had sunk and that people ended up in the water, says Joanna Paraïso, deputy rescue leader at the Maritime and Air Rescue Center to TV4 Nyheterna.
Brought to shore by helicopters
As a result of the accident, three people ended up in the water. The rescue service, the police, the Maritime Rescue Society and the Maritime Administration all participated in the rescue operation.
Two people were quickly found but a third person could not be located until an hour and a half after the alarm.
All had to be brought ashore with the help of helicopters, where they were later taken to hospital.
During the afternoon, Region Halland announced that one person had died from his injuries. Another person is being treated for serious injuries.
