Ohsweken man wins 100000 on lottery ticket

Trevor Van Every’s family members didn’t believe him when he said he won $100,000.

The 57-year-old Ohsweken resident learned of his win after stopping at a gas station where he checked his Instant Power Up Cash lottery ticket.

Van Every had earlier picked up his children from school. “I got back to the car and told my kids I won, but they didn’t believe me,” he told officials at the OLG office in Toronto.

His wife also didn’t believe his good fortune when he picked her up from work.

“She was also in disbelief and asked to see the ticket. After I showed her that it was real, she was so happy for me.”

The construction worker says he regularly plays different lottery games. “I find it to be a relaxing thing to do after work,” he said.

VanEvery said he may use part of the winnings for a racing adventure.

“My family and I race 4×4’s,” he said. “We hope to go on a trip to ride them together.”

The windfall will also help with regular finances.

“This win will make everything easier,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Oasis Gas & Variety on Fourth Line in Ohsweken.
