Offenbach’s “Journey to the Moon”

Olivier Fredj staged the opera

A little lightness and enchantment to end a year marked by obstacles. Just like this lyrical production, The journey to the moon by Jacques Offenbach, freely inspired by Jules Verne. This 1875 opera-fairy was intended to tour France through 16 French-speaking opera houses to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of its composer (1819-80) in a new staging by Olivier Fredj. The take-off, initially planned in Montpellier and delayed by one year for health reasons, is taking place these days at the Marseille Opera. Destination: the moon.
