Nyman offers goal guarantee – Varberg without victory

Allsvenskan shooting league

8 goals: Benie Traoré, Häcken and Isaac Kiese Thelin, Malmö FF

5 goals: Jacob Ondrejka, Elfsborg, Christoffer Nyman, Norrköping, Mileta Rajovic, Kalmar FF.

4 goals: Lars Olden Larsen, Häcken, Sebastian Nanasi, Malmö FF, Arnór Sigurdsson, Norrköping.

It was a victory Nyman and his Norrköping really had to work to get.

Initially, not much new was offered under the hot sun on Påskbergsvallen. Varberg played with energy and physicality – and took the lead in a not entirely unfamiliar way.

A long throw-in, a header and then a new Varbergpanna on the ball. Oscar Jansson, Norrköping’s goalkeeper, hesitated, didn’t go out and Luke Le Roux was allowed to head in fairly undisturbed to make it 1-0 already after 13 minutes played.

Just the opening match Varberg needed. In the blink of an eye, Le Roux’s nod brought the club from jumbo place up to twelfth place.

Norrköping? Well, the performance was not at all in line with those during several previous games during the start of the season.

“Fights and Duels”

“If you go to Varberg, there will be a lot of fighting and duels and we weren’t really involved in the first part of the first half,” says Norrköping midfielder Jacob Ortmark to Discovery +.

Varberg’s goalkeeper Stojan Lukic.

Stojan Lukic, the veteran in Varberg’s goal, made sure that Norrköping did not equalize shortly before the break.

The parade was top class, too.

— A coasting rescue. It is part of the goalkeeper’s job. It was nice to make. The picking glove is up, says Lukic about how he stopped Victor Lind’s close-range shot with one fist, he tells Discovery +.

But Lukic couldn’t take everything.

Strong finish

IFK Norrköping’s equalizer came after an hour of play. Christoffer “Totte” Nyman headed in the fifth goal of the season and the 84th Allsvenskan goal of his career on Daniel Eid’s right cross.

Just minutes later, Vito Hammershøy-Mistrati spot-kicked Norrköping to its third straight victory and third place.

Kristoffer Khazeni, this year back as an elite player after suffering from a brain tumor, deliciously lifted in Norrköping’s third goal in the 80th minute.

Varberg can continue to chase the first victory of the season and remains in last place in the Allsvenskan table.
